Anisah Abdullah is a dance teaching artist at Destiny, where she teaches Hip Hop with African and House influences. Originally from the Oakland, Anisah joined Destiny as a student in 2007 and became a teaching artist in 2012.
Anisah Believes that youth have the greatest opportunity for creative expression when their creative space is holistic, expansive, and maintained by this understanding by the group. Restorative justice leaders come in many forms, including the young emerging artist.
Anisah performs with Topsy Turvy Queer Circus in San Francisco as a part of the National Queer Arts Festival and with Deep Waters Dance Theater in their project, House/Full of Black Women, which activates site-specific performance ritual in Oakland. She also teaches aerial dance at Studio Azul in Berkeley, and yoga at YogaLove studio in Oakland.
Anisah is a trained Doula, Childbirth Educator, Childcare Provider, herbalist, and somatic healer. She was officially given the title “Basu” as a yoga teacher in 2016.
