Classes at our Center

After school, weekend and summer programs for young people ages 3-24 at Destiny’s North Oakland center provide skills training in dance, martial arts and performance, as well as tools for confidence, leadership, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and self-expression.

With caring adult mentors, an inclusive, multiracial, and intergenerational community, and an innovative curriculum, our programs give young people more than something to do, more than a place to go. Destiny gives young people a way to be.

Registration is required for all students in our center-based programs. Martial Arts classes are always open to new enrollments, whereas our Dance classes close mid-way through the semester. We offer one free trial class for new students when space is available.

Once you’ve registered for a class, you can log into your account to make payments or change your information.

Paying for your class

A twice weekly class at Destiny Arts Center is valued at approximately $150 per child, per month. With our sliding scale, we empower families to choose what they pay for classes and no one is turned away from lack of funds. We ask that families pay $15-300 per month per enrollment to support our efforts to cultivate creative, peaceful and powerful youth that will transform our world for the better. We are a non-profit organization committed to accessibility, and your generosity supports our ability to continue to offer programs to all families.

We don’t ask for proof of income, and we honor every family’s commitment to Destiny, monetary and otherwise.

Due to our one free trial class policy and our flexible payment options, we do not offer refunds for class fees.

Our Space

Destiny Arts Center is a 7,800 square foot dance and martial arts center located at 970 Grace Avenue between Market St. and San Pablo Avenue in North Oakland. With 3 large dance studios totaling over 3,000 square feet, this recently constructed facility features sprung wood oak floors, mirrors, integrated sound, central air, changing rooms and restrooms. High ceilings, skylights and windows create a well-lit airy space for our grounding and transformative programs.

Destiny students are welcome to spend time in the our space during the hours they’re not in class to do homework, read books from our library, socialize or work on art projects in our Community Resource Room. We ask that students and families arrive no more than 30 minutes before our first class begins, and leave no later than 15 minutes after our last class ends.

We partner with 18 Rabbits and their 1% for Kids program to offer healthy granola bars free of charge to all students.
