Destiny Junior Company (DJC)

The Destiny Junior Company (DJC) was founded in 2009 as DAYPC’s younger counterpart. Following a supportive audition process much like DAYPC’s, each fall fifteen 9-12 year olds are chosen to spend the academic year cultivating their artistic voices and building technical vocabulary in dance, theater, and performance. These young visionaries join DJC Artistic Director, Destiny Mentor teaching artist, and DAYPC alumna Mika Lemoine in co-creating portions of DAYPC’s annual production as well as original works that they perform at various venues throughout the year.

COMPANY AUDITION: Tuesday, September 25 4:30-6:30pm @ Destiny Arts Center

COMPANY REHEARSALS: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:45pm

The Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company and the Destiny Junior Company have performed their powerful mixture of youth-written monologues, dialogue and scene work, and multiple dance styles, for audiences big and small throughout the Bay Area and beyond. All of our content is derived from the experiences of company members and their reflections on the greater social and political contexts in which these experiences occur. Please note that because we work with school-aged youth, we generally do not accept commissions for performance opportunities during the school day.
