Make an impact on the lives of over 5,500 young people in Oakland and throughout the Bay Area by becoming a sponsor of Powering Dreams: The Destiny Gala. This event supports the transformative work of Destiny Arts Center, which inspires and ignites social change through the arts.
Founded nearly forty years ago, Destiny’s programs have grown to include over fifty school and community sites offering professionally taught dance, martial arts, and theater classes free to participants and a North Oakland center with pay-what-you-can movement classes afterschool and in summer camp.
In every Destiny class, young people learn to express themselves, overcome challenges, and build a more inclusive and compassionate world.

- 5pm: Dinner in the Garden — Sip a cocktail, make new friends. and enjoy a variety of seasonal bites as we delight together in a spring evening outdoors
- 7 pm: Showtime in the Theater — Be inspired by the creativity, talent, and collaboration of the Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company, Destiny Junior Company, the Elders Project, and guest artists. You will witness the final performance of this original youth-generated production blending hip hop dance styles and theatre – featuring performers as young as nine up to creatives in their eighties!
- Intermission — All sponsors will have access to a hosted bar during intermission.
- Finale — All audience members will have the opportunity to show their support for all of Destiny Arts Center’s programs through a fund-a-need, followed by a celebration onstage with the cast.
- Dessert – Attendees will receive a sweet treat on their way out to remember the night and carry them through the week ahead.
